Mobile home screen shortcut
A mobile home screen shortcut is an icon placed on a phone's home screen that opens a site directly, created from the browser's share or menu options rather than installed from an app store. It is a bookmark with a logo attached, not an application.
Where you see it
Sites suggest it with an add-to-home-screen banner, often after you have visited a few times, and once added the icon sits among ordinary apps carrying the platform's name and artwork.
Why it matters
The convenience costs visibility: the icon is on the home screen where anyone glancing at the phone can read it, it survives clearing browser history, and tapping it may drop you straight into a session that is still signed in. Renaming it helps only partly, because the image normally stays. Removing it works like removing any app icon - hold it and delete.
