Data request
A data request is a formal ask to a platform for a copy of the personal data it holds about you, or for that data to be corrected or erased, made under whatever data-protection law applies where you live. It is a legal route rather than a product feature, which is why it reaches further than the settings screen does.

Where you see it
The privacy policy names the route - a web form, a dedicated privacy address, or occasionally a download-your-data panel inside account settings. On smaller platforms it is a support ticket with the request written out.
Why it matters
This is the only way to reach records you cannot see yourself: sign-in and device history, moderation notes, support correspondence, purchase logs. Expect the platform to verify who you are before it answers, which means proving your identity to a service you may not want holding more. What you can actually demand, and how long the platform has to reply, is set by your country's law, not by the platform.
