Mute function

The mute function silences something for you alone - either the stream's audio or one user's chat messages - without telling the other side and without changing what anyone else sees or hears. It is a display control, not an account action.

Where you see it

Audio mute is the speaker icon on the video player, usually the first thing you reach for when a room starts playing sound on its own. Muting a person is in the menu behind their name in chat, alongside block and report.

Why it matters

Muting audio is the practical defence on a shared or public device, because a cam room can begin playing sound before the page has finished loading. Muting a person only tidies your own view: they can still message you and still read what you type, so blocking or reporting is what you want when the problem is behaviour rather than noise.
