Screen name
A screen name is the public handle displayed next to everything you do on a platform: chat messages, tips, follows and your profile page. It is chosen at sign-up, is visible to every other viewer in a room rather than only to the performer, and on many sites it cannot be changed afterwards.

Where you see it
You pick it on the registration form, then see it in the chat log each time you speak or tip, and at the top of your own profile.
Why it matters
A handle carried over from a gaming, forum, social or email account is the simplest way to link adult-site activity back to your everyday identity, because anyone can search the same string elsewhere. Pick one used nowhere else, and keep real names, birth years, and anything drawn from a work or family email out of it - a nickname that feels harmless can still be unique enough to identify you.
