Profile visibility
Profile visibility is the account setting, or group of settings, that decides what other users of a platform can see about you: typically your screen name and avatar, if you are currently online, and some record of your activity such as the performers you follow. What can be adjusted differs by platform, and parts of it often cannot be turned off at all.

Where you see it
In account or privacy settings, sometimes split across a profile page and a separate privacy tab. You also see the practical result the first time you type or tip in a public room and your screen name appears to everyone in it.
Why it matters
Defaults tend to be more open than new users expect, and public chat is the part people forget to check - entering a room while signed in can announce you. Tightening these settings limits what other users see; it changes nothing about what the platform itself records, so treat it as cover from other viewers rather than from the site.
